Antje Laidler – 2015 UPwithARTist

Bio:

London artist Antje Laidler was born in Germany in 1943 and immigrated to Canada in 1975. In 1977 she graduated from the Special Art diploma course at H. B. Beal Secondary School, and went on to complete two further years of study, also at Beal, with the late Bert Kloezman. Initially a print-maker specializing in etchings and mono-prints, in recent years Antje has worked primarily on charcoal and pastel drawings. She was elected to the Ontario Society of Artists in 1988, and in 1993 received the Commemorative Medal celebrating the 125th anniversary of Canada’s confederation.

Since 1983, Antje has exhibited widely and frequently in solo and group shows, many of them juried, at public and private galleries throughout southern Ontario. Examples of her work are to be found in the collections of the McIntosh Gallery at UWO, the University of Toronto Art Centre, the St. Thomas-Elgin Art Centre, the Thames Art Gallery, Chatham, and the Woodstock Art Gallery, as well as in many corporate and private collections not only in Canada, but also the U.S., Australia, Germany, Ireland, Britain and Switzerland. She is currently represented by the Thielsen Gallery, London.
