Artist Bio:
Artist Enedelio López Herrera (Nelo) was born in San Antonio Huista, Huehuetenango, Guatemala. I work in London, Ontario, in water colour, acrylic, and oil on canvas, paper and wood. I have been painting, self-taught, for 16 years. I have participated in Up with Art three times to support the work of Unity Project to relieve homelessness. My paintings can be found in private collections in London, ON, Toronto, New York, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Cuba and Spain.
Artist Statement:
I painted Seahorses as an act of solidarity with migrants trying to enter the United States in this era of wall-building. In this work, with land routes blocked, migrants can take to the sea, like seahorses. There is no way to stop human migration.
