Kim was born and raised in London, Ontario, and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours Degree in Studio Arts from Western University. She has been exhibiting her artwork since 1994. In the past Kim has volunteered in London’s Art Community at Forest City Gallery, Axis Studios, The Arts Project, and Various Programs at Museum London.
Kim continues to explore the combination of paint and string, and in this case acrylic paint, jute, and foil metallic thread. The jute underneath the paint surface is intuitively laid and determines inner spaces where the artist defines the paint strokes by stitching the brush-marks with the foil metallic thread. Kim’s use of these materials creates a unique abstraction and seemingly animated expression.
