Don Krauskopf was born in London, Ontario and lived between London, Bayfield and St. Thomas most of his life. He travelled extensively throughout Western Canada and the United States working for engineering companies. He is a ductwork and piping designer and for the last 20 years he has worked in electrical and urban forestry. Don is also an artisan of wood-turning and is a member of the Thames Valley Wood Turners Guild. He is a devoted participant in the New School of Colour since its start in 2011 and has made over 160 paintings since that time.
Don Krauskopf has a profound interest in the history of Ontario, particularly the development of transportation networks. His style is at once whimsical and representational, exploring and rendering large architecture structures within natural settings and the pleasant aspects of history that happened on, at or near them. He experiments with different types of paint and researches his subject matter, dealing with the convergence of the man-made with the natural environment.
