Biography
Jamelie Hassan is an artist and activist who is based in London, Ontario and for many years has been a supporter of the Unity Project’s Up with Art fund-raiser. Her work has toured nationally & internationally and is included in numerous public and private collections.
Statement
In Feb. 2012, Ron Benner and I returned to Oaxaca, Mexico. Our last trip to this city in southern Mexico was in 1992. This watercolour is one of a number of watercolours which I painted from the roof of the residence where we were staying. The view is looking towards San Felipe and shows the neighbouring rooftops and vegetation in relation to this colonial building and the flowering vine that was growing in the courtyard.
