Artist Bio:
Jamie Dronyk lives and works in London, Ontario, where she shares a collective studio with local artists, writers, and musicians. Her work draws on slips of the tongue, language collage, and the intersection of languages to generate nonsensical words. She uses imagism and reordering to devise new meaning. Dronyk is a BFA graduate of the University of Western Ontario and works as a Frontline Support Worker at Unity Project for the Relief of Homelessness in London.
Artist Statement:
Dodomu is the phonetic spelling of додому, meaning home in the Ukrainian language. This image was originally drawn by the late Olga Dronyk whose story of home is one that will ring always in my memory.
