Bio:

When it comes to her art and writing, Pauline King Shannon goes by the alias name; Pooks. She has been a New School of Colour artist since 2011, and has had her art in roughly 20 art shows over the years, including Up with Art and the Twitter Art Exhibit. Pooks has also been a WordPress blogger for the past 4 years, and has one autobiography book published called Random Thoughts of an Alien Goddess. As an introvert, art and writing have become useful tools of expression, and have helped her through some difficult life experiences.

Description/ Statement:

My influences include artists such as Salvador Dali, H.R Giger, Pablo Picasso, Diana Thorneycroft, Floria Sigismondi, and Rhonda Bobinski Beckman (whom was my grade 11 and 12 art teacher). From those inspirations, I’ve learned that not all art has to be beautiful. So some of my work can be pretty dark, but still have a light within. Also, my work is like a collection, or a collage of thoughts mixed into in one image. Art is like speaking without having to say a word, which is probably why I enjoy art, because it’s so universal.
