Tricia Johnson – 2021 UPwithARTist

Value: $400

Artist Bio:

I have resided in London, Ontario most of my life, except for a brief hiatus in Guelph, where I did my Master of Fine Arts. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Western University where I am currently an Assistant Professor, teaching Foundations and Print Media, in the Department of Visual Arts, as well as being the Undergraduate Chair. I am a printmaker and fibre artist. I have a lovely family with a partner named Tim and two children named Max and Betsey.

Artist Statement:

The Internet of Things was the result of an accumulated approach to drawing on an etching plate. I left the copper plate on my studio table for months, adding a quick gesture drawing of a vine leaf, from imagination, whenever I passed by. I am interested in the relationship between the linear harmony and connection that happened while this image emerged over time.
